Our Team

Susan Abbott is the Director of the Office of Religious Education of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston. She has served in the office in several capacities for since 1999 and before that worked in parish-based religious education starting in 1981. She currently or previously has served on the boards of the National Conference of Catechetical Leadership and the National Association of Catechetical Media Professionals, and is a member of the New England Conference of Diocesan Directors of Religious Education.

She is a prior recipient of the Sister Marian O’Connor Award for Excellence in Catechetical Leadership. Susan is also a former chairperson of the board of directors of Massachusetts Citizens for Life.

Susan was born and has lived in Boston her entire life, except for one year when she and her husband lived in Germany while he was a Fulbright Fellow.

A widow since 2002, she has four children, three daughters and one son, of whom she says their beauty, brilliance, and goodness defy description, as well as six grandchildren—two girls, four boys—who she says are following in their parents’ footsteps.
